There are different antenna strengths and sounds needed for multi industries. This is measured per dBi and relative to the isotropic source.

The antenna gain for satellite pictures needs a minimum of 42 dBi . The ability of the antenna to form the focal point is related to its dBi gain. This dBi gain will influence the quality of picture you receive. Naturally the higher the dBi gain the better the picture/sound.

There are minimum gains necessary for digital television antennas.  Rubber duck antennae have a 3.2 dBi gain on VHF and 5.5 dBi gain on UHF for hiking, riding and telescoping antenna.  Ham radioCB antennas also require dBi gain.

Music Networks also have highly advertised dBi gains such as 37.5 dBi and 43 dBi gains. Some stations provide only adequate carrier-to-noise ratio for digital operation. Sometimes the sidelobe performance of the antenna is more important than the dBi gain ratio so that undesired signals from adjacent satellites are avoided. Sometimes the absolute antenna dBi gain for angles off the axis does not take the on-axis dBi gain into account. The advertised on axis dBi gain for a 12' antenna is 42.9 dBi. The actual dBi gain of the antenna off axis is 20.4 dBi which is less than advertised on-axis dBi gain. At 4.4 degrees off axis the dBi gain is 12.9 dBi, which is actually 30 dBi less than the on axis dBi gain.

At Wireless Computer Networking.com we will help you realize full advantage of your antenna dBi gain. You have a 9 dBi gain in your current antenna over dipole. Do you really need the newly-advertised 12 dBi gain over isotropic? Our antenna specialists will advise you regarding the 9 dBi gain over the dipole antenna. This dBi is not a worthwhile gain especially if it isn't cost effective. Consult us first before you consult advertised dBi gain figures. Your dBi antenna specialists at Wireless Computer Networking.com will clarify your type and antenna design to see the actual dBi gain.

The manufacturers normally designate dBi for gain over dipole and dBi for gain over isotropic; but we will check antenna type and design for accurate dBi gain figures. Doubling power wattage results in dBi improvement. High gain antennas improve both transmit and receive.
