Wireless Antennas.

A directional antenna is one in which the radiation pattern is directed and not omni-directional antenna or non isotropic. An antenna is any structure or device used to collect or radiate electromagnetic waves. Directional antennas are used to increase coverage to inaccessible areas. A method of increasing the transmission distance of a radio by the signal concentration in a single direction is attained with a directional antenna. The directional antenna can route calls etc to remote areas without using expensive cabling. Directional antennas are cost effective alleviating the need for cordless technologies. A theoretical isotropic radiator is actually an omni-directional antenna, and the ratio of radiation intensity is in a given decibel or dBi circular expression.

A flat-plate directional antenna for mobile telephones was developed in 1999. These directional antennas are intended for increased efficiency, however the challenge of the effects of electromagnetic radiation from cellular phones, the manufacturers felt that by using directional antennas, the radio-frequency signal could be directed away from the head by the directional antennas. The controversy over the conventional omni-directional antenna with cell phones led directly to the new design of the directional antenna. This flat-plate copper-patch technology for directional antennas was instituted. The conventional omni-directional antenna was implied as an industry problem, although vehemently denied. This directional antenna technology was to become a marketing advantage.

Flight termination systems consist of a powerful amplifier transmitting an encoded tone through an antenna. Two designs were utilized, transmission into an omni-directional antenna (with a high power amplifier) or a smaller amplifier transmitting into a directional antenna. There are benefits and disadvantages to both systems. The omni-directional antenna does not need to be directed at a target, so the omni-directional antenna is cost effective, but the amplifier is costly. The directional antenna uses an amplifier that is lower in power and cost, however the directional antenna must be continuously pointed at its target.

CISCO, Lucent, AVAYA are just some of the leading manufacturing and design companies for directional antennas. Solutions for directional antennas or 2.4 GHz antennas that don’t meet your requirements can be customized to your specific application using directional antenna, omni-directional antenna or the 2.4 GHz directional antennas. These directional antenna are also available in various frequencies.

Wireless Computer Networking.com have a number of antennas in their arsenal. The directional antenna is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. With 2 directional antenna units a 1 mile range can be established if a clear line of sight is established. They also manufacture an omni-directional antenna that can be mounted on a ceiling for regular omni-directional antenna use or on a wall to increase the range in a single direction. Wireless Computer Networking.com also sells directional antenna wireless LANs to meet specific wireless networking installation needs. A wireless network interface card’s power ability is increased by the wireless network antennas.
